Physician Assisted Dying: A Medical Legal Perspective

February 6, 2015 By Site Admin

The Supreme Court of Canada, in its recent decision in Carter, has unanimously ruled that “the prohibition on physician assisted dying infringes the right to life, liberty, and security of the person in a manner that is not in accordance with the principles of fundamental justice”.

Dr. Derryck Smith who is the Co-Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee of Dying with Dignity Canada and a Board member of DWD Canada and The Wold Federation of Right to Die Societies, will discuss a number of issues on the subject, including the decision of the SCC.

More information on the February 19th dinner meeting can be found here.
